What we want
We'd like stories that offer quick insight: something poignant, memorable, a few lines that hint at a much larger story, but a story left to the reader's imagination.Still not sure what we really want? Here are some examples of the kind of fiction we're looking for:
How we'd like it submitted
- Email it! When submitting please put the title of the piece and your name in the subject area (example: The Long Road, Rachel Corsini), that way it will be easier for the editors to keep track of each submission. (superbriefs@gmail.com)
- 140 characters or less, no exceptions. Any piece over 140 characters will not be accepted since they can't be posted in the format we're using. If it's longer it could be wonderful but we still won't publish it (and yes, we actually will count).
- Multiple submissions are allowed. All stories are 140 characters or less, so yea, submit a bunch of 'em. If submitting multiple micro-fictions please type your name in the subject line. We can take it from there.
- You will retain the right to your piece. Even though the micro-fiction is a story in its own right what we'd love to happen is that it sparks some sort of inspiration and grows into something larger.
- Grammar counts. Please do not send us a garbled grammatical mess. Proofread and spell checked pieces make us smile. We will do some editing of course (that's our job), but we'd like to see something well put together.
P.S. If your published micro-fiction does inspire a longer piece, send it our way. We'll read it and then post it in its entirety on the blog for everyone to see! (That's right. TWO publications, and you would still have the rights to both!)
Oh and one more thing...SUBMIT
